October Blessings!

It’s only the 14th of October and I have three new speakers to share with you!

Welcome to Angela Damianakis.  A familiar last name, as she is married to our Iconographer/Speaker Elias Damianakis!  Angela is an Orthodox life coach and clinical social worker.  Please click on the link to her speaker page to learn more about her background and the subjects that she is passionate about.

Father Michael Oleksa joins us from Alaska where is has been now for over 40 years.  Father Michael is a well known speaker, and is most widely known for his acclaimed four part series “Communicating Across Cultures” on PBS.  He has been the honored recipient of so many awards…you’ll have to look at his speaker page!

Father John Oliver, author of the popular book “Touching Heaven: Discovering Orthodox Christianity on the Island of Valaam” is our newest speaker, and hails from Tennessee.  He loves to give us practical ways of living out our Orthodox faith, and has quite an interesting and practical way of teaching.  You’ll enjoy getting to know Father John better.

Well, off to iconography school all of next week.  It looks like a couple more speakers will be coming on board as soon as I return.  Stay tuned!

Welcome Anatole Kurdsjuk!

We are so happy to welcome a completely unique speaker to the OSB!  Anatole Kurdsjuk has a background like very few that we know.  Author of The Long Walk Home with Miracles Along the Way, Mr. Kurdsjuk brings a firsthand understanding of what unspeakable hardships man can live though, and still see God and His love with every turn.  As a speaker, Mr. Kurdsjuk inspires and strengthens us, giving us inspiration to persevere through times of uncertainty and turmoil.  Please take a look at his speaker page, and welcome Anatole by inviting him to speak at your next event!

Have I said "My Cup Runneth Over" before?

God’s blessings seem to multiply at certain times in our lives…..sometimes to one’s sheer amazement!  It is so hard to hold down my excitement every time a new speaker is announced. With each one, new topic headings are created, and the breadth and depth of what we can offer as a bureau becomes more and more complete.  If you only knew the speakers who are working on their documentation to be put up on the OSB site right now….ah, my secret!  I can’t wait to let all of you know.  But, I am patient, or at least I’m working on it.

I just got back from another year at Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery in Rives Junction (see my post from last year).  Another beautiful year…and I think about 700 people!  His Beatitude Metropolitan JONAH was present, His Eminence Archbishop NATHANIEL and His Grace Bishop MARK.  Another blessed year.  Chronia Polla as we say in Greek…..Many Years!

Welcome Prof. Anastasios (Tasos) Ioannides!

Tasos earned a Byzantine chanting diploma from the Archbishop Makarios School in Nicosia, Cyprus; then a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana; and most recently, a Master’s degree in Applied Theology through the Antiochian House of Studies. Along the way, he has been a University Professor, and his lectures are equally captivating whether on Byzantine chant, the analysis of road pavements, or liturgical theology.  Once again, the OSB topics list is growing with each additional speaker’s expertise.  Find out more about Tasos here!
