It’s amazing to me that it will be November 1st this Saturday! So much has been happening with the OSB. We have about 8 speakers right now who want to join the bureau and are working on their speaker pages for the site. September and October have been busy months for those speakers who have asked me to “rattle the bushes” so to speak! It’s such an honor for them to meet so many people and humbling, I’m sure, that they have been invited. Please let me know if you think I should be contacting anyone in particular. Maybe you’ve heard someone speak or have enjoyed their books and/or podcasts on Ancient Faith Radio or OCN…just send me an email!
For now, I’m juggling how to wear a different hat every day. Accounting, Marketing, Sales, Management, Website Management….and to think I took this all for granted in my former companies. If any one of you out there are a Quickbooks or Squarespace expert, and don’t mind me picking your brain…give me a call!
I have to say thank you to the Antiochian Archdiocese and Conciliar Press for their support. They’ve both helped the OSB by providing ideas and ways to grow. Even the “little” things can make such a difference!
I just got back from three days at Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction Michigan. I know everyone has their favorite monastery, and this is mine. If you are ever in the Detroit area….or even in the Chicago area……I highly recommend a visit. It’s about a 3 hour drive from Chicago. Mother Gabriella and Father Roman are happy to have visitors, and I highly recommend celebrating with them on their feast day. I beleive we had about 500 people there this year. Imagine a beautiful procession led by the nuns carrying an icon of the Dormition, followed by…I lost count, but I want to say 17 Priests, His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, His Eminence Archbishop Job, several Deacons and the Laity. Out of the chapel and into the pavillion. Then imagine standing in the pavillion for Vigil and Lamentations, in the middle of trees and flowers, with a slight breeze blowing….candles lit….the beauty of the vestments and icons and the sweet sound of the sisters and mothers chanting…as the sun sets over God’s creation. It’s funny, it brings tears to my eyes even now. Everything seems so perfect and….right.
Surrounded by so many people who feel the same way brings a refreshment to your soul that you pray will stay with you when you go back out into the “world”. This is where I wish I had the talent the OSB speakers have for writing. I know I cannot convey with proper grammer and punctuation at least, what I want to say. So, I’ll struggle along embarrassingly and wonder whether I should hit “publish” when I’m finished. Let me know if you ever want to go. I will put you in touch with Mother Gabriella, give you directions….however I can help. I hope to see you there! Here is their website in case you want to take a look! www.dormitionmonastery.com
May God continue to bless all of you,
I am so happy to have our new website up and running! I hope everyone likes the new look, speakers and hosts alike. The Orthodox Speakers Bureau is busy booking our speakers throughout the country, and we’re even hoping to expand internationally! I will make sure this journal keeps you abreast of the latest as we add new speakers and expand our services throughout the coming years. Also, I will find a way to let you know some key dates on our speaker’s schedules so that you will know when they are in your “neck of the woods”. If you have any comments, please feel free to let me know through the contact page, and I will definitely get back to you. In the meantime, keep checking back, as you will see tools and resources for event planners and speakers in the coming months. That’s all for now. May God bless all of you in your endeavors!
