Biography

Maria MolettMaria Tsacrios Molett is a licensed marriage and family therapist. Maria received her Masters in Clinical and Community Psychology from Chapman University. She works as a licensed professional counselor and licensed sex offender treatment provider in Texas, and trains others to do the same. As a first generation Greek American Maria displays the optimism and work ethic she learned from her parents, not to mention the drive and determination to make a difference for causes she is passionate about. Her expertise as a marriage and family therapist as well as her renowned skills as a presenter are the basis of the hundreds of workshops, consultations and presentations she has lead over her professional career. Maria is a dynamic presenter who never leaves her audience dissatisfied. Her most popular topics include Retreats for Women, Forgiveness and Healing, Family Relationships, Parenting, Children and Adolescent Issues and Sexual Abuse Prevention. Descriptions of some of her more popular presentations are listed below, although she will work with any group to develop a unique presentation that will fit their need.

Maria’s work with children who were victims of sexual abuse led to the development of programs that focus on treating the family of the victim and the offender. She also developed community education programs to prevent child abuse and began a non-profit community counseling agency to provide low cost therapy to children and their families. Two Texas Governors have recognized Ms. Molett’s expertise. She was appointed to the Council on Sex Offender Treatment by Governor George Bush and re-appointed by Governor Rick Perry, serving on the council for 10 years. The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist also recognized her when she was appointed to serve on the ethics committee by this prestigious international professional association. Maria has written professional articles on sex offender treatment and has been featured in a documentary on female sex offenders. Sought out by many professionals for her expertise, she has presented at numerous conferences and organizations on protecting children from sexual abuse. As a consultant she has worked with many organizations to develop policies and train personnel to protect children from becoming victims of abuse. She had the distinct honor of presenting to the International Association of the Treatment of Sexual Abuse (IATSA) in Athens, Greece in 2004.

Successful in balancing her professional life with her personal life, Maria has been married to husband Michael since 1970. They have two daughters, Xanthe Alexis and Tabitha Anne and two beautiful granddaughters, Sophia Elena and Alexandra Grace. Maria will tell you that being a Yia Yia is the best thing she has ever done. She is an active member of her church, Philoptochos and Daughters of Penelope. She also has served as a volunteer in her community as PTA officer, Junior League member, volunteer board member and active in civic organizations.

  • Becoming the Woman God Meant for You to Be:
    This presentation is specifically geared to inspiring women in the church to reach beyond their comfort zone, and challenge themselves to become the woman God meant for them to be. It is a wonderful program for a woman’s retreat.
  • Forgiveness Moving Toward Healing:
    This program is for both men and women and addresses the power of forgiveness in our lives. Everyone has been faced with a problem and unfortunately anger has resulted in holding grudges and cut offs in relationships. What is forgiveness and steps on how a person forgives are taught. An excellent program during lent or any time of the year.
  • Seven Steps to Preventing, Recognizing and Reacting to Child Sexual Abuse in the Church:
    This is an educational program that will benefit all members of a parish. The participants will learn about abuse and what they can do to address this problem. It can be tailored to meet very specific needs.
  • How To Identify Sexual Predators and Keep Our Children Safe:
    This presentation is one that can be divided into several parts and provided to the entire church community or just the parish leaders and teachers. It involves basic predator awareness and identification, safety tools and specific child safety policies. It can also include education of the children on abuse prevention.
